Apple is reportedly going to hold a media event on Wednesday, September 7. This could be the day Steve Jobs takes the wraps off his company’s much-anticipated next-generation smartphone.
Unconfirmed reports have indicated that the iPhone 5 is going to debut in September or possibly October. An early-September announcement fits in well with a mid- to late-September launch.
For the last several years, Apple has held a press event in early fall where the new iPod models are announced. However, normally by this time a new iPhone has been on the market for months, but not this year — consumers are still waiting for this device.
Apple iPhone 5 Preview
Although Apple has kept quiet about the features of its next smartphone, that hasn’t stopped some of the details from leaking out. These show that the fifth-generation iPhone has once again been redesigned. It will supposedly have a slightly larger screen than any of its predecessors, possibly 4 inches instead of 3.5 inches. In addition, the Home button has reportedly been enlarged to become a gesture area, and the camera is being upgraded to 8 megapixels.
On the inside will be iOS 5 running on an Apple A5 dual-core processor. The amount of built-in storage capacity is not yet leaked out.
The iPhone 5 will certainly be available from AT&T and Verizon. It might also be offered by Sprint and T-Mobile.
