Asus has been busy working on updating its line of notebooks and UMPCs. Included in this is the R2E, which has an updated spec sheet and support for the 3G cellular-wireless networking standard HSDPA.
This company also recently announced the R3 MID, which is a new contender to the market.
More About the Asus R2E
The R2E will now be sporting Intel’s A110 processor, HSDPA with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and bigger hard drive options, up to 80 GB.
The design still remains the same as its predecessor the R2, with it’s 7-inch screen. Essentially there won’t be any appearance changes, just a few more options to help users of this tablet be more mobile.
This UMPC’s processor is being bumped from a 900 MHz Celeron to Intel’s McCaslin platform. This is expected to increase both performance and battery life.
The Asus R2E is expected to have price tag of €1,119 — about $1,600 — when it is released in Europe sometime in October. It is not yet known when it will make its way to the U.S.
