AT&T promised months ago that it will offer HTC’s new flagship smartphone, but only today did it reveal the actual release date and price. Those eager to get their hands on the One X will have to wait a few more weeks, however.
The carrier will begin taking pre-orders for this powerful Android smartphone on Sunday, April 22. The actual debut will be on May 6, making AT&T the first U.S. mobile provider to introduce the One X.
The price has been set at $200 with a two-year service contract — this is AT&T’s typical cost for a high-end smartphone.
HTC One X Preview
As befits a flagship device, the One X sports a range of high-end features, including a very large display, 4G, high-res camera, much more. It was the first handset released by HTC to run Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Unlike the version which is already available in Europe, AT&T’s will support 4G LTE. However, it will have a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, not the quad-core one in the European model.
The One X has a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 (720p) super LCD, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, plus a 1.3 megapixel front-facing one. In addition to LTE, this version of the One X is going to 4G HSPA+, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0. The smartphone will include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD memory card slot.
