Australians buying up PDAs

from Although many of the major technology outlets in Sydney, Australia, are describing PC sales as “soft,” or beneath expectations, this holiday season, strong movement of personal digital assistants (PDAs) and peripherals appears to be keeping retailers in good cheer. Describing sales as slow, John Slack-Smith, general manager of computers and communications for Harvey Norman, said the department would end the year “slightly up” over last year–no thanks to PCs. “Generally we’re finding a good movement of peripherals; PDAs are moving well,” echoed David Foster, general manager of sales at Harris Technology.
