Dell announced today that it’s latest models, the Axim X50 series, comes with the just-released Windows Media Player 10 for Mobile. This company hasn’t forgotten about its current customers, though, and will release an upgrade that will bring the latest version of Microsoft’s multimedia software to the Axim X30.
In addition, HP is planning to do the same thing for the iPAQ rx3115 and the iPAQ rx3715.
The latest mobile version of Windows Media Player offers new capabilities for playing content from multimedia subscription services.
Unfortunately, this application apparently can’t be released directly by Microsoft. Instead, it is going to come from the various Pocket PC licensees.
At this point, the only models that will certainly get Windows Media Player upgrades are the X30 and the rx3000 series.
Axim X30 users worldwide will be able to download the upgrade within 60 days from Dell’s support web site.

This new multimedia software will allow Axim X30 and X50 customers to load music playlists, movies, and even favorite TV shows from their Windows XP PC.
Windows Media Player 10 for Mobile also features Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 support. This gives access to new subscription services, like CinemaNow, MusicMatch, and MLB.com.
