Barnes & Noble has released an app that allows Android OS-based smartphones to access ebooks created for the nook eReader.
With this app, a personal Barnes & Noble eBook library — purchased on a NOOK eBook Reader, online at BN.com, or on another BN eReader-enabled device — can be wirelessly synchronized with an Android OS device.
nook allows users to customize text with many font styles and sizes, plus it offers reading in landscape and portrait modes and graphical page turns.
This is also the first Android OS ebook application to offer digital lending, also a feature of the dedicated nook eReader device. Customers can share eligible ebooks for up to 14 days with friends, who can read them with a compatible app or device.
Barnes & Noble plans to enhance this app this summer by adding highlights and notes, a search library and look-up feature, library grid-view, and more.
nook for Android is now available on Barnes & Noble’s website at www.bn.com/nookforandroid. This app is free.
There are already versions of this software for Apple’s iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, as well as BlackBerry smartphones and PCs and Macs.
