Barnes & Noble’s Android-Based E-Book Reader Could Debut Very Soon

The launch of Barnes & Noble’s e-book reader is reportedly right around the corner, and many of the details of this Android-based device have slipped out in the last few days, including its innovative dual-screen design.

E-book ReaderAccording to numerous leaked images, B&N’s electronic book reader will have a tablet shape, and at first glance will include just a single screen. However, it will actually have two, one right above the other.

The larger one will be a 6-inch, black-and-white E-Ink screen for displaying the contents of books and magazines. The smaller will be a color LCD display with multi-touch capabilities. The second screen will take the place of a keyboard, and perform other functions, too.

Coming on Tuesday
B&N has invited journalists “to a major event in our company’s history” on Tuesday, Oct. 20. This will almost certainly be the launch of its e-book reader.

Despite all the leaks, the price for this product has not yet been revealed.

B&N is reportedly going to take a page from’s playbook, and its e-book reader will give users cellular access to its maker’s website.

Apparently the system software for handling this will be come from the Android OS, though it’s not clear how much of the Android functionality will be built into this device.
