Although several companies have shown off prototype VGA screens that are less than 3 inches when measured diagonally, Casio now has bragging rights for creating the smallest of them all.

Last year, Sharp made headlines when it began demonstrating a prototype of a 2.6-inch 640-by-480-pixel (VGA) screen.

In August, Samsung showed off its 2.6-inch VGA display, and announced that this LCD is going into production in December.

Casio 2.2-Inch VGA Screen Now, according to JCNnetwork, Casio has announced it has a prototype VGA screen that is just 2.2 inches. The company used Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT (HAST) LCD technology to give this display a resolution of 368 pixels per inch (ppi).

Casio isn’t willing to say when this product will go into production.

More information is available on Casio’s web site (Japanese).
