Per BlackBerry’s announcement from its BlackBerry Live conference last month, BBM will be making its way to both iOS and Android handsets, though initially the company provided no launch date. The arrival date for the popular messaging software has now been confirmed, however, and it will be released on both platforms on June 27.
The information comes from a T-Mobile UK tweet, rather than BlackBerry itself, but the source is legitimate nonetheless. The download, which will be free, will only work on handsets with iOS 6 and Android 4.0 or higher. As for the features, BlackBerry has promised that all of the classic features of BBM will be available to iOS and Android users, including PINs and message delivery/read confirmation.
