BlackBerry Bold 9700 from AT&T Finally Gets BlackBerry OS 6.0 Upgrade
Users of the AT&T’s version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 can upgrade this business-oriented smartphone to BlackBerry OS 6. However, this is no longer the latest version of RIM’s operating system, as BlackBerry OS 7 was unveiled yesterday.
The Bold 9700 debuted back in 2009 with BlackBerry OS 5.0. RIM announced plans to release an OS upgrade for this model in the summer of 2010, and users of the T-Mobile version of this smartphone got their upgrade last month.
Despite the long wait, this version brings very significant changes, making devices running it more competitive with Apple’s iPhone and smartphones running Google’s Android OS. The changes include a faster, much improved web browser, an updated user interface with several of the standard applications redesigned, a tool that allows users to search everything at once (even inside applications), and a built-in YouTube app.
The BlackBerry OS 6.0 upgrade for the Bold 9700 is available now from AT&T’s website.
