An unauthorized video of the BlackBerry Bold 9670, RIM’s second smartphone with a clamshell design, has appeared online. A short video of the BlackBerry Bold 9800, which will be RIM’s first with a sliding keyboard, has also leaked out.
BlackBerry Bold 9670
Research In Motion (RIM) has yet to officially unveil the BlackBerry Bold 9670, but quite a bit of information about it has leaked out already. This includes a new video:
As is typical for leaked videos, image quality isn’t outstanding, but it’s still enough to show it running BlackBerry OS 6.0, a new version of RIM’s operating system that’s expected to debut this summer. It will be noticeably enhanced with a redesigned home screen and a more advanced web browser, among other changes.
According to images and details that have leaked out, the Bold 9670 will have a full QWERTY keyboard, a 360 × 480 pixel internal display as well as a relatively large, color external screen. It will include a trackpad, since neither of them will be touchcreens, and a 5 megapixel camera with flash.
BlackBerry Bold 9800
A very brief video of the Bold 9800 has also leaked out, revealing little new information but helping to confirm details that had come out before.
The smartphone will apparently be RIM’s first with a sliding keyboard. It will have a portrait orientation, instead of the more typical landscape orientation.
The Bold 9800 is another model that will debut with BlackBerry OS 6.0. However, most other details on it remain under wraps.
At this point, it is unknown when either of these smartphone will be released, or their price points.
Still, RIM has announced that BlackBerry OS 6.0 will be released in the third quarter of the year, and so neither of the models will be on the market before then.
