BlackBerry is finally moving forward with its crossplatform version of BBM. According to BlackBerryOS.com, BlackBerry has started rolling out a beta to a small number of users to test out the Android and iOS flavors of BBM.
The program is not currently available to the public, but those receiving an email (like the one released by BlackBerryOS.com) will find the find the app available under Eligible Programs. To run the app on Android devices users will need Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher, and to run the app on iPhones users will require iOS 6.
The report by BlackBerryOS.com on Thursday came just one day after BGR’s exclusive leak on Wednesday of an image showing the app running on the Samsung Galaxy S III.
BlackBerry has been conducting internal testing for some time, and it’s great to see the app now entering beta.
