BlackBerry Q10Apparently BlackBerry is unfortunately continuing its slide into irrelevance, as the company’s market share for the second quarter of this year slipped to a mere 1.1 percent.

Research firm Kantar Worldpanel revealed that BlackBerry’s numbers were down from the same period last year, when the company accounted for 4% of the U.S. market share. These disappointing numbers come despite the fact that Q2 marked the first full quarter in which BlackBerry’s Z10 flagship was on shelves, as well as the launch of the QWERTY-equipped Q10.

To put BlackBerry’s numbers into perspective, Apple’s share of smartphone sales saw a boost from 39.2 to 42.5 percent year over year, while Android faltered slightly to drop from 52.6 to 51.5 percent. Windows Phone, meanwhile, continues trail mightily with only 4 percent market share.
