It’s been a little quiet in Astraware land…but they just took the wraps off a new cross-platform game, BookWorm. I found it to be a mix of Scrabble and Tetris, if that makes any sense.
As you can see from the screenshot, the goal is to make words using adjacent tiles. Smaller words earn smaller scores and big words or words that use bonus letters earn serious points. Fill up the book stack and it’s on to the next round. Astraware throws in a couple other bonuses like WhatWord, where you try to match specific words to earn bonuses. It also has some elements from another of their games, Bounce Out.
Anyway, I played it for a brief moment and it looks good and played well on my Tungsten T. I do have a review copy in hand and will gather some thoughts in the next week or so. For now, you can Astraware.com/games/popcap/bookworm/” target=”_new”>pick up a trial of the Palm version in both high res and low res, as well as the Pocket PC edition. If you like it, the full version is only $14.95.
