Treo 270 Available For $49.99 With Rebates at Amazon.com
The Handspring Treo 270 is available for only $50 at Amazon.com with two rebate offers. The regular price of the mobile phone/Palm OS handheld is $350. If purchased by August 13, a $200 mail-in rebate is available from Amazon.com, and with an additional $100 rebate from T-Mobile, the total price is only $50. The Treo 270 is a wireless smartphone that offers both voice and data capabilities. It’s also a full-featured Palm OS handheld. It has an integrated mini keyboard and a 160-by-160 pixel color screen.
MessagEase Now Available for Pocket PC
MessagEase is an application designed to speed text entry by using a modified keyboard with only nine letter keys for the most frequently used letters of the alphabet. The remaining letters, as well as numbers, punctuation, and often-used editing commands, are accessed by sliding the stylus in specific ways. MessagEase is already available for Palm OS handhelds.

SplashData Announces SplashPhoto 4.0 for Palm OS
SplashData has released SplashPhoto 4.0 for Palm OS devices that includes several new features, including optimization for OS5 and native ARM support. A new desktop application is now included that provides two-way synchronization of photos, including categories, as well as the ability to crop and compress large pictures for optimal handheld viewing.
Images are now stored on expansion cards as JPG files, enabling easy transfer to Pocket PC and Symbian devices by Bluetooth, infrared, or email. Palm OS Exchange Manager is also supported, enabling users to open, receive, and send photos with Snappermail or Versamail. For those devices without expansion slots, there is an option to store photos in the handheld’s main memory as JPG files. All current Palm OS Handheld screen resolutions are supported, including 160 x 160, 320 x320, and 320 x 480, with “pan and zoom” support for viewing images larger than the handheld screen.
The built-in camera in the Palm Zire 71 and Sony Clie NX series is also supported, as well as the Palm Photos file format for those devices that include it.
