Sony has released the Mobile Connection Wizard, a desktop application that helps users to configure wireless settings for their Clie handheld. To connect to a Bluetooth-enabled phone, users just need to specify their wireless carrier and phone model in the desktop app then complete the device pairing through a Mobile Manager application on the handheld. Setting up a Wi-Fi connection is equally simple. The Mobile Manager also makes it easy to switch between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless connections.

SecurityFocus has found a bug in ActiveSync that “could make it possible for remote users to trigger a denial of service.” Read the details on the company’s site.

AvantGo has released a new beta of it application for Palm OS handhelds. The latest version offers virtual Graffiti support for the Hi-Res+ screens on some Sony models and has new Forward, Back, and Home icons. In addition, users can no longer move between pages using the D-Pad on the Tungsten T and the Jog Dial on Clie models.

Navman USA, Inc. is offering rebates for two of its global positioning systems (GPS) products for Palm OS and Pocket PC. There is now a $50 mail-in rebate for the Navman GPS 3420, which works with the h3600, h3700, h3800, h3900 and h5400 Series iPAQ Pocket PCs. The company is also offering a $70 mail-in rebate for the Navman GPS m Series, which works with the Palm m125 and m130 models and the entire Palm m500 series.

Now Software has released a HotSync conduit for Now Up-to-Date. This allows syncing of calendar and “to-do” list information between the user’s Windows PC and any Palm OS handheld.
