General Magic, the company that developed the Magic Cap operating system for handheld devices in the early 90s, has filed for bankruptcy. Though a few handhelds were released running Magic Cap, most notably the Sony MagicLink, it never caught on. The company later went on to develop Internet Agents. Now, however, the company has ceased operations and is selling off its assets.

Astraware has released its newest word game, Bookworm, available for both Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds. Players need to feed Lex the Worm’s endless appetite by joining letters on the library wall. If they don’t use up burning letters before they reach the bottom, they’ll set the library on fire. It sells for $15.

Buy.com has a Lexar 128MB Memory Stick for $57.99, with free shipping, plus it also has a Buy.com-only mail-in rebate available for $20 until December 31. That reduces the 128MB Memory Stick to just $37.99 total. Thanks to Didier Laurent for the tip.

Sena Cases has announced a leather flipcase specifically designed for Sony Clie PEG-NX60 and NX70 handhelds. It will come in six different colors. Until January 4, 2003 it can be pre-ordered for $30, after which it will go up to $40. The company also announced that its currently designing cases for the Palm Tungsten T and Dell Axim X5.
