Pumatech has released Intellisync 5.1, the latest version of its desktop synchronization software. It now offers synchronization of e-mail attachments, support for Microsoft Outlook Express software, and the ability to conduct live updates to Intellisync via the Web. There are versions for the Palm OS, Pocket PC, and Windows CE available for $70.
Microsoft has officially released ActiveSync 3.6, after accidentally leaking it a few weeks ago. It includes support for Microsoft Smartphone 2002, improved synchronization with Outlook, improved remote synchronization, more reliable USB support, and other new features. It is a free download.
Infinity Softworks has released a Windows version of its powerOne Finance financial calculator for the Palm OS and Pocket PC. It allows users to synchronize financial calculations and templates between their desktop and handheld computers. powerOne Finance for Windows is $60 and doesn’t include a handheld version, which also sell for $60.
Infinite Venture is developing Lands of Shadowgate, a turn-based strategy game that utilizes Infinite Venture’s Play-By-Sync technology to allow handheld and smartphone owners, including Pocket PC and Palm OS 5, to compete against each other over the Web. This lets players without wireless play on the road, return to their desk, and automatically sync the game with the company’s servers. Players on wireless handhelds will be able to play this game at any time. All players on all devices, with or without wireless, will be able to play against each other. Lands of Shadowgate will be in open beta in December and available commercially in the first quarter of next year.
