Palm Raises $18 Million
Palm, Inc. has sold 1.2 million shares of its common stock in order to raise $18 million. They were sold at $15 per share, which is slightly below the price the stock has been selling for lately. Palm had approximately 29.3 million shares outstanding as of July 25, 2003.
Palm says the money will be used for general corporate purposes by the Palm Solutions Group, which is the division of the company that makes the hardware.
Palm will shortly split into two companies. The Palm Solutions Group, which makes the handhelds, will be renamed palmOne after the split. The other is PalmSource, which develops and licenses the Palm OS.

LandWare Inc. has released the Wine Enthusiast Guide 2003 for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs, the first version of this application for this platform. Created in partnership with Wine Enthusiast Magazine, this application includes an extensive wine-buying guide with more than 10,000 entries, cellar management tools, a vintage chart, and a 1,400 term glossary.

SugaTris Available for Five Different Mobile Platforms
MobileWizardry has released SugaTris, a game based on the classic Tetris. What makes it unusual is it was developed using the SHARK development kit, which allows a single code base to be recompiled natively onto multiple platforms. This allows the company to easily create versions of this application for Palm OS, Pocket PC, Smartphone 2002, Symbian Series 60, and Windows.

Synchronize Text Files with the TextSync Conduit
Palm OS word processors come with conduits to synchronize documents on the desktop with documents on a handheld. However, for some people a full handheld word processor is overkill. TextSync conduit will synchronize Palm DOC files on the handheld with regular text files in PC, merging them if both have changed.
This application is freeware and can be downloaded from PalmGear. There are also several free applications that can display the Palm DOC file.
Free Public Beta of Anthelion For Pocket PC Now Available
