Penticon announces PhoneMagic

Penticon has announced the release of PhoneMagic, an Address Book replacement for Palm Powered devices. PhoneMagic has the look and feel of the built-in address book, but it adds the ability to create reminders from address book records, pop up the address book from any app (and then return back to the original app), create virtual links to address book records from other apps through a command bar tool, and highlight recently-used numbers. Its Smart Lookup feature automatically searches by last name, first name, and company, progressively narrowing the list of possibilities as the user adds letters to the search field.

A fully-functional trial version can be downloaded and used for 30 days, and PhoneMagic can be registered for $19.95.

Online Application Builder for Palm

DDH Software, maker of HanDBase, has developed an Online Application Builder for Palm Powered devices, with a Pocket PC version to follow in a few weeks. For a flat fee of $599.99 for unlimited licensing rights per platform, any organization can create databases and forms using HanDBase Professional or Enterprise, use the Online Runtime Builder, and sell or distribute the resulting application to its employees, customers, or members. Since no development knowledge or experience is required, the Online Application Builder significantly reduces the barriers for creating custom apps.

New Hands-Free Stereo Headphone Adapter has developed a new hands-free 3.5mm stereo headphone adapter for the Pocket PC Phone. The adapter provides stereo audio output while enabling the internal microphone and can also be used to convert the iPAQ 1900 series 2.5mm jack to a 3.5mm stereo output jack. The adapter will ship on June 19, 2003, for $12.50.

EarthLink and Sprint Hooking Up

EarthLink customers can now access their EarthLink email accounts from wireless handhelds and smartphones using Sprint’s PCS Vision high-speed wireless service. This saves users from having to use multiple email accounts.

The new release supports viewing and manipulating file properties such as backup state and write protection, and it fully supports high resolution and full screen modes on enhanced devices. TealMover is Palm OS 5 compatible and retails for $11.95.
