CES 2006 – PDAs and Smartphones Hard to Find
Aside from the three announcements from Verizon that everyone knew were coming, there’s been very little excitement in the PDA and Smartphone arena in the day before the CES. We have a few shots of the new Garmin 3000 and the Verizon XV6700. We also have the Palm Treo 700w in-hand to review, so be looking for that coming soon.
Verizon XV6700
More or less the same thing as the Sprint PPC6700, Verizon released this as a part of a Windows Smartphone triple play. The other two releases were the Treo 700w and the Samsung i830.
More info on this and the other Verizon releases can be found here.
Garmin iQue 3000
This entry-level Palm OS based PDA with integrated GPS is actually pretty nicely designed. The only weird call I noticed on the surface is the use of TransFlash memory, or Micro-SD. Their capacities are small and you need a microscope to see the darned things. We should have a review unit soon, in the interim here are a few shots.
i-mate SP5m
We also caught up with this Euro-release that features Windows Mobile 5.0, Bluetooth, WiFi, EDGE and an integrated 1.3 MP camera.
