Cingular has just begun offering a new service today: TeleNav Inc.’s TeleNav GPS Navigator.

This brings turn-by-turn voice and on-screen GPS directions to Cingular’s business and government customers. With this service, it’s not necesarry to store maps on the device. Instead the routing information is exchanged over the cellular network.

TeleNav GPS Navigator also provides information on more than 10 million points of interest and additional search tools.

It can be used with the iPAQ hw6500 series models offered by Cingular, as well as the iPAQ hw6900 models that will debut next week. It is also supported by the Cingular 8125 Pocket PC and the Palm Treo 650, however these two require an external Bluetooth GPS receiver.

TeleNav subscriptions range from $5.99 per month for up to 10 trips or $9.99 a month for unlimited trips.
