Dell has posted on its web site an updated ROM for its Axim X50 series.
This is for both the X50 models with QVGA screens and the X50v, which has a VGA screen.
Unlike many previous ROM updates released for these handhelds, this makes only a couple of small changes.
According to Dell’s description, ROM A04:
- Improves the power-on mechanism.
- Enhances the system robustness when changing the memory frequency
This ROM update can be found on the Dell Support web site under “System and Configuration Utilities”.
It can be installed only from a PC running Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
What’s a ROM Update?
The ROM is where the operating system and built-in applications are stored. Changes made to the files in ROM are permanent and will survive the device undergoing a hard reset.
Updating the ROM will erase everything on the handheld, usually including the contents of the Built-In Storage.
Thanks to alex for the tip.
