Dell has posted on its web site an updated ROM for its Axim X30 series.
Dell says this for all three models in the series. However, users of the non-wireless X30 model should be aware that most of the changes made in this ROM are wireless-related.
The improvements in Axim X30 ROM A06 are:
- Added feature that allows the WLAN auto power-off feature to be enabled and/or disabled in the Power applet.
- Updated the Funk Odyssey client to version 2.00.00.1681
- Updated the Bluetooth stack to version 220.127.116.1100
- Added support for Go Daddy SSL certificate
Because of differences in the file Storage format, neither the Microsoft ActiveSync backup utility nor the Dell Data Backup utility can be used to migrate data from handhelds using the older A02 or A03 ROM to the latest version.
Those who are still using an older X30 ROM can backup their PIM data with ActiveSync, but other files and applications will need to be manually re-installed.
Those using X30 ROM A05 don’t need to worry about this.
This ROM update can be found on the Dell Support web site .
What’s a ROM Update?
The ROM is where the operating system and built-in applications are stored. Changes made to the files in ROM are permanent and will survive the device undergoing a hard reset.
Updating the ROM will erase everything on the handheld, usually including the contents of the Built-In Storage.
