Dell’s website has begun taking pre-orders for Venue Pro, this company’s first first device with Windows Phone 7. This will allow far more people to obtain this high-end smartphone.
The Venue Pro is one of T-Mobile’s two devices running Microsoft’s new operating system. It has a sliding keyboard, plus a range of high-end features such as a large screen and fast processor.
For much of the last month, this smartphone has been available only in Microsoft brick-and-mortar stores, not online. This limitation has now come to an end, though this product is not yet shipping.
Pre-orders can be placed on Dell.com, and the preliminary ship date is Thursday, Dec. 9.
The Venue Pro is currently selling for $100 with a two-year service contract with T-Mobile USA.
Dell Venue Pro Overview
Dell’s latest smartphone is a slider with a 4.1-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive touchscreen. This isn’t the only slider running Microsoft’s new mobile operating system, but it is the only one with a portrait-oriented sliding keyboard rather than the usual landscape-oriented one.
On the inside is a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor running Windows Phone 7.
The Venue Pro is able to connect to T-Mobile’s 3G network, and it will include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.
It also sports 8 GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, an FM tuner, and a 1400 mAh battery.
