The “Dellphone” is no longer just a rumor. The mini3i will be an Android-based smartphone with an entry-level feature set. However, it’s not clear if many Westerners will get the opportunity to use this device.

Dell mini3iThis company has made its reputation by offering low-cost products, and the mini3i fits the mold — this model will lack both 3G and Wi-Fi.

Still, it will have a 3.5-inch, 360-by-640 touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera, and a memory card slot.

Worldwide Availability?
The Dell mini3i was unveiled today by the Chinese wireless carrier China Mobile. It’s not clear if it will be released in other parts of the world.

There were reports earlier this year that Dell showed off its first collection of smartphones to a variety of wireless carriers in the U.S., who all passed on them because of “lack of differentiation” with other models.

While this version of the mini3i has Google’s Android at its heart, it runs a proprietary user interface created by China Mobile called Open Mobile System (OMS).
