Demand Growing for HP Mini-Note Subnotebook

HP’s Mini-Note hit the market this spring, and a new report indicates that demand for it is growing dramatically.

HP 2133 Mini-NoteHP Taiwan told the Chinese-language newspaper Apply Daily that worldwide sales have increased 50% each month since the debut. The heavyest demand is coming in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

No reason was given for this increase, but it could be releated to consumers’ growing interest in the sub-notebook category.

HP’s first subnotebook runs Windows Vista on a 1.0 GHz or 1.6 GHz processor from VIA, or there are also Linux-based versions. It comes with either a 120 GB or 160 GB hard drive.

All versions have an 8.9-inch, WXGA (1280 x 768) screen and a nearly full-size keyboard.

They also sport Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is optional.
