As of November, Sony Electronics will make available an option to upgrade CLI PEG-N710C handhelds from Palm operating system (OS) 3.5.2 to the latest version (Palm OS 4.1). In addition to enhanced processing speed on the OS level and support for 16-bit (more than 65,000) color, the OS 4.1 upgrade program from Sony also offers new applications for the CLI PEG-N710C handheld devices including: MEMORY STICK IMPORT (handheld application) & Memory Stick EXPORT (PC application): *Install Palm OS-based applications directly onto Memory Stick media inserted in CLI handheld without performing a HotSync operation. *Enable PC to instantly recognize CLI handheld with inserted Memory Stick media as a removable Storage device. *Copy and remove data between PC and Memory Stick media via Microsoft Windows Explorer application. *Create folders other than default folder to store CLI handheld data. MEMORY STICK BACKUP *Backup and restore CLI handheld data directly to and from Memory Stick media with one-click. PHOTO STAND * Perform a slide show of the PictureGear Pocket images one by one. * Display the time with the picture so that you can use it as an analog or digital clock. * Choose effect patterns or the time display mode. Technicians at a Sony Service Center will perform the OS upgrades to ensure a smooth transition to the new operating system. The service package will cost about $50. It includes pick-up and delivery, a CD-ROM for new applications.
