AT&T has just begun offering a new Android smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate is partially made with recycled materials and has a UL Platinum rating.
It has an entry-level feature set, and price to match. This device is built around a 4-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) Super AMOLED touchscreen, and runs Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a 1.2GHz dual-core Scorpion processor with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 4GB of internal storage, and includes a microSD memory card slot.
This smartphone can connect to AT&T’s speedy 4G LTE network. It includes a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 1.3MP front-facing one, as well as a 1750mAh battery.
Its Platinum certification from Underwriters Laboratories means that this device can be considered “environmentally preferable.” The Exhilarate features a rear casing made from 80% recycled material, and comes with a low-load, energy-efficient charger that alerts customers when the device is fully charged.
The Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate is now available on AT&T’s website and in stores. It cost $50 after a mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract.
