EOps Technology has announced the world’s first TV Tuner CompactFlash card which is compatible with Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003 handhelds.

The EOps TV CF Card has a built-in TV tuner that enables a Pocket PC to receive real time TV broadcasts. It can tune in to UHF to VHF channels 2 through 69.

TV programs are displayed on the handheld’s screen in either portrait (208 by 160 pixels) or landscape (320 by 240 pixels) orientation at up to 30 frames per second.

It has a built-in telescopic rod antenna that folds down when not in use, and it also has a RF-IN jack for connection to an external antenna in poor reception areas.

The TV CF Card has an AV-IN jack for connecting a camcorder, DVD player, or a video game console. It also includes a pair of stereo headphones and a jack to plug them into.

Four AAA batteries can power this peripheral for up for 2.5 hours, or it can use an AC-DC adapter, though this is not included.

A US NTSC version and a PAL version of the TV CF Card will be launched in March of 2004. It is expected to cost $99 in the U.S. and GBP 80 in Europe.
