First Ever Music Album Being Released on MMC Card

EMI Music UK has agreed a deal with The Carphone Warehouse which will make Robbie Williams the first artist ever to release an entire album plus video content on a removable memory card.

Robbie Williams Greatest Hits will be released on an MMC card, as well as on CD and vinyl. The MMC version will be playable on a variety of mobile phones and handhelds.

While the MMC version will be a lot easier to carry around than a CD, it will be considerably more expensive. In the U.K., the CD version of the Robbie Williams album will cost 8.99 pounds (about $16.22), the memory card version will sell for 29.99 pounds (about $54.10).

Desite this, The Carphone Warehouse seems optimistic about sales and is already in talks with EMI to deliver more pre-loaded memory cards this Christmas.

This retailer will begin selling the Robbie Williams Greatest Hits MMC Cards exclusively across its 600 U.K. stores next month.
