The first word has leaked out of Fujitsu-Siemens on some new Windows Mobile 5.0 handhelds, the Pocket Loox N500 series.
FirstLoxx.org has been able to obtain pictures and some details on these devices. However, a complete overview of this series is not yet available.
Supposedly there will be four models, all with 256 MB of ROM and either 64 MB or 128 MB of RAM, depending on the model.
At least one of these will have built-in 802.11g WiFi, and another will include a quad-band GSM/GPRS phone. Bluetooth will also be part of some N500 series models.
Unfortunately, that’s all that’s known about the Pocket Loox N500 series at this point.
None of the leaked information has revealed anything about processor speeds, the number and type of memory card slots, the size of these handhelds, and so on.
In addition, there has been no word yet on what any of these Pocket PCs will cost, or when they will be available.
When the N500 series does hit the market, it is unlikely to be officially released in the United States. Those in this country interested in Fujitsu-Siemens’ last high-end Pocket PC had to buy it through the gray marketers like eXpansys.
