Future iPhone Could Have a Curved Screen

Apple has reportedly purchased a number of glass-cutting machines that will be used to produce a curved screen on an upcoming smartphone. This might not be a feature of the next iPhone, though.

This company is no stranger to the curved displays, as the iPod nano includes one. And Samsung is already offering a smartphone with a curved screen, the Samsung Nexus S.  The curves run different ways though — Samsung’s screen is shaped to hug the user’s face when on a call, while the iPod has a convex display.

In the iPhone 5?
At this point, it’s not clear which upcoming version of Apple’s smartphone this feature is supposed to be included in. It could be the next one, or possibly the one after that.

Unconfirmed reports now suggest that the iPhone 4S is going to be released this fall. This will be a moderately updated version of the current one, with a faster processor and better camera, but with the same general design.

The version after that, could be the one with a curved display. This one is also expected to include LTE, a 4G standard that both Verizon and AT&T are going to use. When it’s going to be released is not yet known.
