Geeksphone’s early Firefox OS developer devices, the Keon and Peak, were very modestly-specced, with even the higher-end Peak only sporting features like a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and a 4.3-inch qHD display. Now that Geeksphone achieved “success” after putting the units into developers’ hands — according to a statement released by Mozilla — the company plans on beefing up the specs of the Peak and releasing the consumer version of the phone to the masses.
The improved version of the Peak, which will be dubbed the Peak+, but Geeksphone has neglected to provide any details about how the specs will be adjusted, beyond the fact that the smartphone will be “new and improved.”
No word yet on any pricing or release timing, but Geeksphone said through its newsletter that it will begin gauging interest with a “pre-reservation list” in the coming days. In the meantime, Developer Preview versions of the Keon and Peak have been available through Geeksphone’s store for months now.
