It looks like the rumors about a gold variant of the upcoming Apple iPhone 5S are beginning to heat up. First, a qualified insider confirmed the rumor earlier today, and then shortly thereafter, images of the alleged handset were leaked.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo first issued a report in which he listed the primary differences between the 5S and its successor, which include the previously-rumored A7 processor, fingerprint sensor, and improved camera. But the new information included a mention of the new gold-colored model, as well as an additional storage option of 128GB.
Not long after, a French blog called MacBoutic leaked alleged images of the phone’s gold casing, one of which can be seen here. Though Macboutic doesn’t have an established track record when it comes to Apple leaks, the markings on the casing do seem to match up with the markings seen in previous leaks. We may not be able to immediately confirm the legitimacy of the leaks, but we won’t have to wait long until Apple’s official unveiling of the iPhone 5S (and possibly the budget-oriented iPhone 5C) on September 10.
