Google Carrier Billing Now Available for Verizon Wireless

Google PlayGoogle has added carrier billing for Verizon on Google Play. Verizon consumers who own Android devices will now be able to make purchases on Google play directly through their Verizon accounts.

For those unfamiliar, Google Play is Google’s app and media store, which provides media content for eBooks, smartphones, tablets, and even PCs.

The new payment option has been available for a few days now, so users may have already recognized the payment option when buying apps. All consumers have to do is enable the “bill my Verizon wireless” account option and the purchase will appear on the next cell phone bill.

Allowing users to make purchases directly from their Verizon accounts should prove not only convenient; but vital as it will open up the Google Play market to those who did not own or wish to place a credit card on Google Play originally.

Supposedly there is currently a $25 limit for carrier billing, though Verizon has yet to confirm whether or not this is true.

While this rumored limit could be a hassle for some users; it also could serve as a protective method to those who lose their devices, ensuring that large purchases could not be made by someone else.

For users who may not find this new feature appealing it can be easily disabled. To do so, users can head to the Verizon Wireless Security Webpage and then head to Service Blocks and enable the “Block Web Purchases” option.
