iGolf Technologies is now selling a GPS receiver in an SD card for palmOne’s new Treo 650 smartphone.
In addition to the SD GPS receiver, the package will also include a complimentary copy of iGolfgps v.2 and a discount link for Mapopolis Navigator.
Currently, the GPS SD card driver only functions with these two applications.
iGolfgps provides golfers with accurate distance measurements to the front, center and back of a green and four customizable points, such as water and sand hazards. Additionally, a scorecard for up to four golfers is included, complete with player’s statistics and real time scoring.
Mapopolis Navigator provides spoken and visual navigation prompts before each turn and generates routes in the United States, Canada and Western Europe.
Additional GPS software, developed by iGolf Technologies or provided by other developers, will become available in the future. Developers who would like their software compatible with this SD GPS Receiver should contact iGolf Technologies to inquire further.
“With the 650, the card works perfectly, and I’m loving life. I tried it out several times yesterday, and in the car I have several satellites in view at all times. It works flawlessly,” said Doug Marks, an iGolf Technologies customer.
Those wishing to purchase the GPS SD card should visit the iGolf Technologies web site. The cost is $250.
This product works only with the Treo 650, but this company also sells the software driver that lets other Palm OS models use Pretec’s GPS SD card (sold separately).
