LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Today at the Microsoft Mobile & Embedded Developer Conference, Handango announced a new version of Handango InHand for Windows Mobile that enables streamlined customization of on-device clients for a wide variety of companies including software developers, mobile news sites and retailers. With the new version, licensees can deploy their own branded versions of InHand quickly and easily, delivering a branded experience while creating a dedicated download catalog on their customers’ mobile devices.
Handango InHand enables licensees to simplify content delivery across all smart phones; present a compelling, branded interface; improve customer awareness of downloads; increase content revenues and data traffic; and deliver a superior download experience through features such as trials, one-click access, download safeguard and online backup.
“This newest version of Handango InHand extends the benefits to an entirely new customer base, reaching beyond that of mobile operators and handset manufacturers,” said Randy Eisenman, president and chief executive officer of Handango. “Now, an extensive range of companies and retail brands can leverage Handango InHand to deliver premium content to their customers directly on their smart phones and offer a compelling shopping experience all while increasing revenue and customer loyalty.”
Popular mobile news sites Geekzone, Pocket PC Thoughts, Aximsite, Pocket Download and Medical Pocket PC have already licensed the new InHand client and are deploying their own versions in May.
In addition to the streamlined customization, Handango InHand for Pocket PC and Smartphone is now Microsoft Windows Mobile Certified and received the “Designed for Windows Mobile” logo. The certification solidifies that Handango InHand meets certain quality standards of compatibility with the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system. All testing was completed by an independent, Microsoft-approved third-party company who specializes in quality assurance and testing. With this certification, Handango InHand will now be available for download in Microsoft’s elite Mobile2Market software catalog.
Currently, Handango InHand is available for smart phones and wireless handhelds utilizing Windows Mobile for Smartphone or Pocket PC, Symbian OS UIQ, Palm OS(R) and BlackBerry. Operators and device manufacturers who have licensed Handango InHand include Sierra Wireless, BenQ, Sprint and Sony Ericsson.
