Recently, rumors have been circulating that the GSM/GPRS version of the Treo 600 smart phone has been delayed by several months. A Handspring spokesperson said today that there was no basis for these and carriers should begin offering this device in the near future.
The Treo 600 is a major upgrade and redesign of Handspring’s smart phone line. It offers the latest version of the Palm OS and more memory in a smaller casing. It also includes a camera and an SD slot.
Handspring expects Cingular Wireless and T-Mobile to begin offering the Treo 600 in the next few weeks. It also expects service from AT&T Wireless to be available soon thereafter. The CDMA version of this smart phone is already available from Sprint PCS.
The rumors say there is an unspecified problem with the GSM/GPRS version of the Treo 600 which will delay its release until around the beginning of December. However, the Handspring spokesperson says he doesn’t know where people might have gotten this idea.
