Hot Topics – Most Active Discussion Threads of April

by Reads (8,308)

For those who don’t have time to keep up to date on the Brighthand Forums, here are some of the threads that have attracted the most attention over the last month.

These have been split into two categories: On Topic and Off Topic. The On Topic posts will, of course, deal with smartphones and handhelds in some way, while the Off Topic ones will come from Brighthand‘s very active forum of that name.

Note: This does not include news articles, editorials, or reviews written by the Brighthand staff.

On-Topic Threads

Finger Painter Contest Giveaway – A contest held by the developer of the Palm OS application Finger Painter generated a tremendous amount of attention and nearly 200 comments.

NVBackup NOT running automatically anymore – One of Brighthand‘s forum moderators put in a request for help with a Palm OS backup utility, and he received over 150 responses.

Starting to prefer it naked – This provocatively titled thread is actually about the advantages and disadvantages of using a protective case with a handheld. There were dozens of replies in the ensuing debate.

Pocket-tunes Help – A newbie’s request for assistance with an audio application generated quite a few responses as people helped out, and also discussed the best ways to put music on a Palm OS device.

Off-Topic Threads

Disaster Strikes BH Member – In early April, long time (and mis-named) Brighthand forum member minimalposter lost virtually everything he owned in an apartment fire. There were over 300 responses in the resulting discussion as other members talked about ways they could help out.

I Am Soooo Bored!! - A fairly typical off-topic discussion on ways to kill time. A related thread on time-killing games also received a great deal of attention.

Virginia Tech Shootings – Not surprisingly, the biggest U.S. news story of the past month came up in the off-topic forum.
