HP iPaq 3900 Series Released

HP has released it’s first iPaq following the merger with Compaq.  The design is exactly the same, but you will get the XScale processor and more memory with the 3900 series offering.

Basically the new series offering will feature a new brighter screen technology called a “transflective display” and will have the new Intel 400MHz XScale built into it.  The XScale is designed to stretch battery life by switching to low power when the PDA is not being used for any intensive processing, but when a demanding application is run the XScale can switch to “turbo-mode” and run an application flawlessly (while sucking your battery of course!).  The iPaq 3970 will have 48MB of flash memory and built in Blue Tooth while the 3950 will have 32MB of memory and no Blue Tooth built in.

On a dissapointing note, you’ll be hard pushed to tell the difference between the 3900 series and 3800 series by simply looking.  The same shell has been kept the devices look identical.  But it’s what’s inside that counts right?  Check out the specs and pictures for each device here:
