Verizon introduced the HP Pre 2 in February for $150, but this newest webOS-based smartphone is now available for free with a two-year contract.

Like its predecessor, this device has a portrait-oriented keyboard that can slide behind its touchscreen.

HP Pre 2Verizon’s price remains at $150, but the HP Wireless Central store is now offering this model with no up-front payment with a new or renewed wireless service contract. And to sweeten the deal, HP is throwing in a Touchstone charging dock, vehicle charger, and a case.

This company is probably holding this sale in hopes of getting rid of its stock of the Pre 2, as the HP Pre 3 is set to debut this summer.

HP Pre 2 Overview
This smartphone has a 3.1-inch HVGA (320 x 480) Touchscreen and features a small slide-out keyboard.

It runs webOS 2.0, and is powered by a 1GHz processor, comes with 512MB of RAM, and has 16GB of built-in storage. An upgrade to the newer webOS 2.1 had been promised.

The connectivity options of the Pre 2 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and free wireless hotspot functionality for up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
