HP Releases 158 New Products, One Secure Digital Digital Camera – The HP Photosmart Mobile Camera

HP has been promoting their “Big Bang 2” massive product release for a little while now. Essentially HP wants to own everything that connects, relates to or is even remotely tied to a computer. While no PDAs were amongst the 158, HP did announce a new digital camera designed for the iPAQ line.

From the release, “The HP Photosmart Mobile Camera for the HP iPAQ Pocket PC – offering industry leading image quality with HP Photosmart image processing technology for a Pocket PC camera accessory. The device enables users to snap, share and print images directly from iPAQ Pocket PCs.”

The camera will feature a 1.3MP lens mounted on a swivel head. As part of the integration strategy, the camera will be able to record video, along with limited audio abilities. It will also intergrate with built in applications like email and Wireless Options like Bluetooth and IR for distribution of your pictures.

The camera will come in the SD format, which is nice to see. With mass Storage being so much cheaper in the CF format, I’m glad to see more accessories coming out for the SD slot. The new camera is due out in October at a list price of $149.
