HP holds a slim lead over palmOne for the #1 sales spot of PDAs while Microsoft is dominating the Palm OS for operating system market share in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

A report from Canalys detailing performance from Q1 2004 shows HP shipped 251,530 units good for a 29.5% market share while palmOne finished second with 233,560 and 27.4%. When sales of Treo units is factored in, palmOne finished much closer at 250,310 units. Oddly, no one else finished with much of a significant showing. RIM was #3 with an 8% market share and Dell took the four spot with 5.1%.

On the operating system front, Microsoft holds a commanding lead with a 57.1% market share, followed by the Palm OS with 32.3% and others with a total of 10.5%.
