Word of a second Verizon smartphone running Google Android has just emerged. Details are still very scarce, though.

A model called the HTC Desire ADR6200 now appears in Verizon’s product database. The designation, ARD6200, make it clear what its operating system will be.

The source for this information told Phone Arena that this device will be Google branded, which means it won’t have HTC’s own proprietary user interface, but will instead use the standard one.

Given the timing, it’s likely this model will debut running Android 2.0, a new version of this operating system scheduled for release this fall. This will offer better multimedia support and other enhancements, and like its predecessors have strong ties to Google’s online services.

Aside from these details, nothing else is known about the Desire, as it has not shown up in earlier rumors and leaks from either HTC or Verizon. Information on the design, specifications, and release date will surely emerge later, though.

This HTC model will apparently be the follow-up to the Motorola smartphone running Android this carrier is rumored to have on the docket for October.
