Images of a prototype unit running Android OS 2.2 have surfaced on the Web, showing that, like the current HTC Desire, the upcoming version will have a tablet shape.
The Desire HD is apparently going to eschew its predecessor’s physical buttons on the front in favor of touch-sensitive areas just below display. The trackpad is also being dropped.
According to information that leaked out of HTC earlier this summer, the second model in the Desire series will be based on a 1 GHz processor, and have 4 GB of internal storage along with a microSD memory card slot.
All the other specifications of this upcoming smartphone remain unknown.
Coming this Fall
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the HTC Desire HD is scheduled for release in October.
Where it will be available is an open question.
