Several photos have been released showing a mystery HTC phone that some speculate could be the upcoming HTC Droid Incredible 3.
Nothing is confirmed about the name of the device, at the moment, but the source for the images says that this device will be shipping to Verizon’s 4G network. In terms of design, the front of the smartphone appears like most HTC devices. However, its back is similar to that of the Droid Incredible 2. No other HTC phone has a back like that model, so sources are speculating that the leaked photos are showing the Droid Incredible 3.
According to the phone’s hardware information screen, it will be running Android OS 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on the new HTC Sense UI 4.0. It will also supposedly feature a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, and an 8MP rear-facing camera plus a VGA front-facing one. Sources also say that the device has an AMOLED screen rather than an s-LCD screen.
The photos also show that the device won’t have any on-screen navigation buttons, but instead, hardware buttons. Most other devices running Android OS 4.0 use the on-screen navigation buttons, however the photos showed that this handset omitted it from the OS.
If real, this model can be counted on to have 4G LTE. Verizon said last month that all its future smartphones will have this high-speed wireless networking standard.
While rumors are beginning to swirl about this device, it’s important to remember that the leaked photos are of a prototype unit. Some things might change, so take this report with a grain of salt.
