The NVIDIA Tegra 3 will be the first quad-core processor designed for smartphones and tablets. It’s debuting next month in a tablet, and an unconfirmed report has revelead some of the details on the first handset to be built around it.
The HTC Edge will supposedly include a 4.7-inch Touchscreen with 1280 x 720 resolution. Other high-end features will include an 8 megapixel camera and 1GB of RAM. Internal storage capacity could be has high as 32GB.
This model will allegedly run Google’s Android OS on the aformentioned NVIDIA Tegra 3. This will have four 1.5GHz processor cores, which will improve gaming and web browsing, but without additional power drain thanks to its ability to turn off cores when they aren’t needed. A 12-core GeForce GPU will also be included.
Some questions are still open, such as which carrier(s) will offer this device and the price. The release time is still vaguew, but the HTC Edge isn’t expected to be on the market until around March/April 2012.
