HTC EVO 4G LTE Will Begin Arriving this Week

After being caught in a legal dispute, the HTC EVO 4G LTE will now be expected to arrive as early as this week. This high-end model will be Sprint’s new flagship Android smartphone.

Sprint has started shipping pre-ordered devices to customers with an expected delivery arrival of Thursday, May 24. A full nation-wide launch will soon be followed.

Why the Delay?

Back in December, the International Trade Commission found that some HTC devices infringed on a patent held by Apple. The patent that was in question was the ability to create hyperlinks based on phone numbers or addresses embedded in emails that directs users to the appropriate app. The ITC then issued an order to U.S. Customs blocking the import of HTC models.

HTC EVO 4G LTESources now say that the reason for the delay of the launch was because U.S. customs was actually testing single devices from individual shipping containers to ensure all passed “review” status.

The status of the AT&T HTC One X is still up in the air, but it is likely that its availability will be announced shortly. This smartphone debuted several weeks ago, but has been out of stock as units were held up by U.S. Customs.
