Just a few days after the official announcement of HTC’s Athena comes an unconfirmed report that this company is working on a follow-up model that will have an even larger screen.
The Athena will be a Windows Mobile-based device, but its 5-inch, VGA touchscreen and built-in hard drive make it comparable to UMPCs.
And, according to DigiTimes, HTC is developing a model with an even larger display: 7 inches.
There are no additional details on this handheld — which HTC is referring to as a "Mobile Office Device" — aside from the fact that it will probably debut during the second quarter of this year.
An Overview of the HTC Athena
The Athena will have a unique design. This will start out in a standard enough fashion: a tablet with a touchscreen. Added to that, though, will a detachable keyboard. The main unit can be magnetically connected to one side of the keyboard to make a laptop-like shape.

This Pocket PC will sport numerous high-end features, like a 5-inch VGA screen, an 8 GB hard drive, TV-out port, a GPS receiver, 3-megapixel camera with flash, and HSDPA.
It will run Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition on a 624 MHz XScale processor.
In addition, to HSDPA/UMTS, the Athena will have quad-band GSM with EDGE. It will also offer Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0.
